An Important Announcement regarding DASHERIE

Calligraphy Wedding Details in DASHERIE

Issue 4 has shipped and begun to hit mailboxes this week. It’s always very exciting for me after months of planning, editing, and designing for others to see the issue. This issue in particular was very difficult to pull together but the final result was worth every minute.

Since readers have started to receive the issue, I thought it best to communicate all at once, that this will be the last issue of DASHERIE for a while. When I began this adventure, I was not homeschooling and I felt it was the perfect time to do what I had always dreamed of doing. However, things quickly changed and I found my family obligations piling up like never before.

Creating DASHERIE has been the single most rewarding professional endeavor I have done yet. It is a dream come true. And while I have to now change gears and let that dream go for a while, I have no regrets.

I would like to thank each and every one of you for your incredible support. I feel your love and it has made all the difference.

Truly,
Erica

P.S. There are still a small amount of Issues 1,2, & 3 remaining but they are selling quickly and are almost sold out. Issue 4 is now shipping. Don’t miss this amazing issue!

Dasherie Magazine Is On Its Way!

White Ink Comparison by Schin Loong in Dasherie Magazine Issue 2.

Well Winter happened on a Tuesday this year in Florida (inside joke for Floridians since it is rarely cold here). It was sooo cold today which was appropriate as Dasherie Issue #2, the Winter issue, has arrived! All pre-orders were shipped today via first class mail and should start arriving in mailboxes late this week or next week.

This issue features over 50 artists and several DIY projects including an awesome Paper Quilling Monogram by quilling artist Michelle Jamieson. In addition to our two fabulous DASHING Artists, Barbara Calzolari and Schin Loong, we feature the stunning work of Russian calligraphers, Svetlana Gorodnichenko and Yulia Harina, Anna Boswell of Cast Calligraphy, and many more.

Calligrapher Theresa Varela-Martinez shares a peak inside her wedding album in the special article, “When a Calligrapher Marries.” The only thing more beautiful than the calligraphy is the beautiful bride!

Several pages of black & white envelopes, led by the delicate and treasured work of F. Phyllis Macaluso, is followed by several more pages of white ink on colored envelopes. Oh, and don’t miss the equally beautiful and informative “White Ink Comparison” done by Schin Loong.

I wish I could list all of the amazing artists & features of this issue but they are too numerous! You’ll just have to wait and see. And if you haven’t ordered yet, do so today! Dasherie Shop.

A Note About Shipping

There have been some questions about why shipping takes so long. Large scale magazines are shipped via a distributor. Once you have a subscription, they come on a regular basis at about the same time. However, the initial issue typically takes 4-6 weeks to go through the process and arrive in your mailbox.

Dasherie is an independent magazine and not currently available in stores. Our storage and fulfillment is done by our printing company. It is a very laborious process to cue the addresses, retrieve the magazine from storage, prepare it for shipment, and then ship. It is not possible for this to be done on a daily basis. It is ideal to be done in large batches. Since we are a new publication, our orders are streaming in on a daily basis, not all at once.

This means some orders will take a bit longer as they wait for the batch to be ready for shipment. Once shipped, all international orders go first class mail. Domestic orders, must meet a criteria to be shipped standard flat rate. If this criteria is met, it will take approximately 8 – 10 business days from shipping date (not order date) to arrive.

So as not to disappoint any of our readers, Dasherie upped the shipping for domestic on the most recent batch to first class mail. This means all orders placed prior to August 18th will arrive to your home faster (shipped Wed, Aug 20th). As more orders come in, we will do our best to get Dasherie in your hands as quickly as possible. But please allow 4-6 weeks from time of order for it to be delivered. Hopefully, it will be quicker than this but that cannot be guaranteed. We hope you will find it well worth the wait! 🙂

In the future, pre-ordering is the best way to ensure you will be in the first group to receive your copy. Hopefully, with our success, we will offer subscriptions so Dasherie can arrive in a routine, timely fashion.

Thank you for your understanding and patience, and thank you for your fabulous support! 🙂

Dasherie Shipping Status & Our Next Issue

DASHERIE | the Black & White issue

Shipping Status

A shipping status update to know when to expect your copy of Dasherie is below. The folks who pre-ordered Dasherie in other countries have already started to receive their copies! But hey wait – why are they receiving it across the pond and we haven’t started receiving it here in the US yet?! Read on…

For all pre-orders made up to and including July 30, 2014:

Countries outside the US were shipped first class international mail on Monday, 8/4/14. We have received several reports from readers in Great Britain that they received their magazine yesterday (8/12/14).

Domestic (US) readers were shipped standard post flat rate which takes approximately 2-8 business days. I had hoped that would mean Dasherie would begin arriving in states close to Florida before the end of last week but unfortunately, we are still anxiously awaiting. The rest is up to the US Post Office.

For those who ordered after 7/30/14, please allow 4-6 weeks from date of purchase for arrival both domestic and international.

Now that we have gone through the entire publishing, printing, shipping process, the next issue should run much smoother with very clear timelines.

There has been a little change in the timing and frequency for the next issues. Dasherie will be semiannual for this year and next and will hopefully go to quarterly for 2016. Our next issue, Winter 2014, is slated for an early November completion.

Issue 2 – The Black and White Issue

Super excited about the possibilities and looking forward to seeing all the beautiful submissions!
